Hi David,
Based on your scenario and our experience with deploying and training
Microsoft Project Server 2003, EPM deployment projects for small
organizations can be divided into two iterations.
Phase One - Requirements and Planning
- Conduct a preliminary audit of needs and assessment/gap analysis
conducted.
- Review of current project management methodology.
- Review the current Microsoft Project Server 2003 configuration.
- Consult with Stakeholders to determine the reporting requirements.
- Identify and plan the Redesigned EPM deployment based on information
and recommendations gathered.
Phase Two - Training and Execution
- Conduct the project management training for all project roles.
- Deploy the Redesigned EPM deployment plan after training is complete.
- Test reconfiguration of Project Server 2003.
- Post deployment support.
Our company uses Microsoft Office Live Meeting for all it's remote IT
deployments and troubleshooting. For our training services we currently
offer instructor-led training, but do not offer remote training yet.
If you require remote training services (or consulting services for that
matter), then talk to Dale Howard or Gary Chefetz at MS Project Experts.
They are very good and know Project Pro and Project Server very
intimately.
So whether you decide to use local or other Microsoft EPM partners my
advice to you is to check their credentials. Anyone can say they can
deploy/teach Project Server, especially from sales person's perspective,
delivering it is another matter altogether.
Good Luck in your EPM deployment
