How do I find a Project Server consultant in my area?

Our IT Director has successfully installed the software, and we are making
limited use of the system, but there are a few areas where we need
assistance. Our company is located in Los Angeles (Commerce), California, and
we would like to find someone local who can assist with completing the
implementation and possibly some training as well.

Thanks,
David Goldman

Hi David,

There are a lot of consulting companies that would love to complete your
implementation and training (I, for one :)

But here's a list of local Microsoft Certified EPM solution providers in
the Los Angeles area:

Rolly,

Thank you so much for the assistance. Incidentally, does your company offer
remote implementation and training services, or do you recommend I work with
someone local to me? We're a small company - only a dozen or so employees,
and only about half of them will probably end up using Project - but we're
growing. Project Server is definitely overkill for our little organization,
but I figure since we made it this far we mine as well try to finish the
implementation and get some use out of it before exploring other avenues.

David --

Our company is currently working with a client in Los Angeles. They are a
small company as well. In addition to implementation assistance, we can
also handle all your training needs. Our company has written two books on
Project Server and we also have written a complete line of role-based
curriculum for both Microsoft Project and Project Server training. We offer
remote training services as well, via the Internet. Although our company is
located in New York City and I work from my home in Denver, we work with
clients nationally and internationally.

You can get an idea of our competence by reviewing who provides many of the
answers to questions in this newsgroup. You will find two names that appear
over and over again: my own name, along with that of our company President,
Gary Chefetz. We are both Microsoft Project MVP's and have many years of
Project Server implementation experience and training experience. Feel free
to contact us by clicking either URL in my signature block. Hope this
helps.

Hi David,

Based on your scenario and our experience with deploying and training
Microsoft Project Server 2003, EPM deployment projects for small
organizations can be divided into two iterations.

Phase One - Requirements and Planning
- Conduct a preliminary audit of needs and assessment/gap analysis
conducted.
- Review of current project management methodology.
- Review the current Microsoft Project Server 2003 configuration.
- Consult with Stakeholders to determine the reporting requirements.
- Identify and plan the Redesigned EPM deployment based on information
and recommendations gathered.

Phase Two - Training and Execution
- Conduct the project management training for all project roles.
- Deploy the Redesigned EPM deployment plan after training is complete.
- Test reconfiguration of Project Server 2003.
- Post deployment support.

Our company uses Microsoft Office Live Meeting for all it's remote IT
deployments and troubleshooting. For our training services we currently
offer instructor-led training, but do not offer remote training yet.

If you require remote training services (or consulting services for that
matter), then talk to Dale Howard or Gary Chefetz at MS Project Experts.
They are very good and know Project Pro and Project Server very
intimately.

So whether you decide to use local or other Microsoft EPM partners my
advice to you is to check their credentials. Anyone can say they can
deploy/teach Project Server, especially from sales person's perspective,
delivering it is another matter altogether.

Good Luck in your EPM deployment

Question:
Does anyone offer hourly consulting services for Project Server, or only the
full-blown training & implementation courses? I've read a couple of books on
MS Project and Project Server and have been using it on & off for the last
year or so. I usually stop using it because I encounter an issue that I can't
resolve and eventually give up trying. This discussion group is great for
quick questions/issues, but it would be even better if I could communicate
with a project consultant directly when there is an issue that merits this
type of assistance (or at least to get me past the initial hurdles).

Hi Dale,

Do you have any partners/affiliates in the southeastern Pennsylvania
(western Philadelphia suburbs) area for project server consulting
services? We are looking for some additional support for an existing
system.

Thanks,
Mark

Our HQ is in New York City, with a staff member in New Jersey. Is that
close enough?
