How Do I Find the Data Source?

I have a mail merge document which uses, as its data source, a query in an
Access database. I would like to know the name of that query. Unfortunately,
the database is not where Word expects it to be. When I try to open the
merge document, therefore, Word informs me that the data source cannot be
found, then removes all information about the data source.

How can I either 1) open the file without losing the path to the data
source; or 2) read the data source without opening the file?

I am using Office 2000, by the way.

Try checking Word Tools|Options|General|"Confirm conversions at open". Then,
if you happened to save the file in HTML or RTF format, open it as a plain
text file and the relevant info should be readable. Otherwise, use the
"Recover text from any file" option to view the .doc. I do not know if that
will actually show you the file name but I suspect it will be your best bet

Thank you for the reply. In fact, I found a workaround (and therefore did
not need to try your suggestions), but I am grateful for the advice.
