How do I find the normal.dot template so I can make modifications?

The Word help file tells me to follow a path (C:\Documents and Settings\user
name\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates) to where I can find the normal.dot
template. However, I don't seem to have that path on my PC. I cannot find a
folder named Application Data, nor a folder named Microsoft. I tried a
search for normal.dot and it only came up with templates for forms, Faxes,
proposals, etc, etc. - no normal.dot. Can anyone tell me where I can find
normal.dot??? I am using Microsoft Office Word 2003 (11.5604.5606).

The problem is that the Application Data folder is normally hidden. Open
Windows Explorer, go to Tools > Folder Options. Select the View tab. Check
'Show hidden files and folders'.

In addition to what Jezebel has said, make sure that the folder given by
Help is the one that applies to your machine: check the path for "User
templates" on the File Locations tab of Tools | Options.

setting it up. I forgot to change the setting to see all folders. I was
able to solve my problem with your help. Best Regards.

Thank you. I did what Jezebel suggested, and also followed your advice. I
was able to solve my problem, and have my template just the way I like it. I
appreciate your taking the time to help me. Best Regards.
