How do I fix Outlook performance speed?

G

Gehre

The performance of Outlook (2003) suddenly detiorated yesterday. It is now
virtually unusable (10 seconds to select an email in the inbox). My computer
Lenovo/IBM ThinkPad Z60m is about 2 months old. I have 1GB RAM, 13GB disk
used, 20GB free. I don't have a lot of emails or email folders. Before
yesterday things were great. Yesterday, Windows automatically did a system
update. I also did a full spyware scan and backed up my disk. After backing
up the disk the Control Panel (XP Home) asked me if I wanted to free up
space. I said 'yes', but did not select compress. Those are the events that
led to the drastic and sudden change in the system. I've rebooted numerous
times.

Do you have any desktop search engines active, such as Google or MSN? If
yes, disable them and see if your system speeds up.
