How do I fix System Restore defect?

JLS

In October, 06 I bought a new Sony Vaio pre-programmed with Windows XP home
and an Office 2003 package. When I attempt to use System Restore to restore
the system to a given date, I receive the following error message. “Your
system cannot be restored to [date indicated]. No changes have been made to
your computer.†Can anyone tell me how to remedy this? Cheers. JLS

The error says it all; there is nothing to restore since no changes has been
made to the installation and configuration files between now and that date.

Note that you are completely off topic here. Post in a Windows XP newsgroup
instead.

Ah! So the composer(s) of the error message mistakenly used the passive
mode. Had she/he written "You have made no changes to your computer etc." I
would have understood sooner. Grammar and syntax are never off topic. But
thanks Roady. Shall not further trouble your portal -JLS!
