How do I fix "Windows cannot find" my documents files in 2007?

In Word 2007 every time I click on a file name to open the file I get a
message that says Windows cannot find c:/users/....... and a blank document
with a blue background. If I minimize that and then reclick on the exact
same file name the file opens properly. How do I fix this? It is really
annoying.

Under Vista Programs it shows 3 items related to Office 2007:
Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2007 SP1
Microsoft Office Small Business 2007
Microsoft Office Small Business Connectivity Components

Which one of those do you want me to remove?

I have tried 3 times to remove this program and the uninstall keeps failing.
I use Vista Ultimate. The first time I went to Programs and told it to
uninstall. It failed. Then I turned off the User Account Control, rebooted,
and tried to uninstall and it failed again. Then I tried to "repair" that
program and it failed again. So something is definitely wrong with this
particular program. What do I do now?

I can only suggest uninstalling the whole Suite: make sure that BCM has gone
too and then reinstall making sure not to install the BCM module. It seem
very strange that you cannot uninstall the BCM module though.

I had a feeling that that was I would have to do. Before I do, however, I
have to make absolutely sure that I do not lose ANYTHING of my data in word,
excel, powerpoint and Outlook. What should I do, PRIOR to uninstalling and
reinstalling, the suite to make sure that as soon as I reinstall everything
will be there just as before?

Great - good to know.
My last questions before I uninstall and reinstall. When I do this will the
Business Contact Manager uninstall this time? It won't uninstall on its own
(I tried it again today). Before I uninstall the whole suite should I first
try to "repair" the Business Contact Manager and see if that fixes the
problem and, if not, then try to uninstall just that portion before I try to
uninstall the entire suite?

Repairing won't resolve your problem as it is a known bug with BCM. That BCM
seems to be corrupt is just an added complication. If Uninstall works, it
should uninstall all of the Office 2007 installation including BCM. But as
Suzanne says, user files are unaffected. After the uninstall, make sure to
delete the registry keys as previously mentioned before reinstalling.

I'm not sure what you mean by "delete the registry keys as previously
mentioned". I don't see where that was mentioned. How do I delete these
registry keys? Is there anything else I should know before I do this?

I am mixing up two similar threads: just a little confused. I thought we had
suggested deleting the Word Data Key from the registry, but that was not in
this thread.
