How do I fix WINWORD.EXE application error?

new to office

I recently downloaded windows upodate and had numerous problems. One that is
still there is when I try to open Ofiice 2003 applications I get the follwing
error message: WINWORD.EXE application error. the application failed to
initialize properly (0xc0150002)...

How can I fix this problem? It occors for all Office applications.
