how do I format a table column to align by decimal point?

S

Sue

I can't figure out how to align a column in my table by decimal point (it's a
financial word table). I'd appreciate any pointers.

Thanks

Select the table column and insert a decimal tab stop (see
http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/SettingTabs.htm). Make sure
the paragraph formatting of the cell contents is aligned left, not
centered or aligned right.

You don't have to type a tab in the table cell, just type the number,
and it will align with the decimal point at the decimal tab stop. (In
regular text outside a table, you do have to type a tab to the left of
the number.)
