how do i get a linked excel sheet to display in multiuser environm

I'm really hoping someone can help me out there 'cos i'm lost!!! I've
designed and set up a database in access 2002, however i'm having real
difficulty trying to view a linked excel sheet on more than one pc at a time.

Basically, i've split the database into a front and back end system so that
it can be viewed by all people in our company at the same time. This has
worked just fine with people using a log-on system (using a workgroup
information file) and viewing the information through a series of forms.
However i'm having big issues with one thing, that is that in the back end of
the database there is a linked excel file which must stay as a linked file as
information is constantly updated in this excel file. The front end is set
up on the LAN server for people to access via their pc's. However we're
finding that this info from the excel sheet can still not be viewed by more
than one person at a time, now i'm pretty sure this is because the 'link' is
just the same on the front end as it is on the back and that it just links to
the actual excel file on the server and I can't actually get it to 'link' to
the linked file in the back end (if that all makes sense!!). Now i am pretty
much a novice at all this and anything i've learnt is self-taught (wrongly so
probably!!), but i've trawled through the web and through books and can't
seem to find a way to get round this one. I'm begginning to think that i
need to change the set up with the excel file and instead run some sort of
query or is there a way i can make another table, link that to the info in
the excel sheet in the back end and then link the new table in the back end
to the front end - seems very illogical though?! Any help would be really,
really appreciated before i have a nervous breakdown! Hope this makes sense.
By the way i've not used VBA for any of this so not too much techie talk for
me please!

Thankyou.
