How do I get a Project 2003 Gantt chart to refresh from the DB?

MSP_TASKS has been updated via an external SP. How do I get the Gantt chart
in the GUI to refresh without closing & re-opening the project?

What is "an external SP"?

In any event, turn on automatic recalculation, or press F9 key to
recalculate manually?

Sorry for the brevity. I have a stored procedure (SP) that simply inserts new
tasks into the MSP_TASKS table. All works fine (aside from some time-based
issues I still need to figure out), and, upon opening the specified project
in MS Project (Standard), the newly created tasks show up in the proper place
in the project's Gantt chart. However, I would like to be able to refresh the
Gantt chart to see tasks inserted after the initial load. Unfortunately,
pressing F9 doesn't seem to work. I've tried setting Calculation Mode to
Automatic and Manual, as well as the "Calculate Now" button on the Options
dialog's Calculation tab. Nothing seems to work except closing the project
completely and re-opening it. I'm sure I'm missing something obvious....

Probably best to ask in the Project Developer's newsgroup. (I suspect
that since Project not really designed for this complexity you may be
barking up the wrong tree).
