How do I get a response to a question in this group?

I don't mean to whine but I have asked a couple of questions (I
considered valid), in this group and never recieved any response.
Is there something I don't know? Here's the last question, posted 9
days ago. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Calvin

"OP Sys = Windows XP Prof. (Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519:
Service Pack 2)

I previously de-activated all autoplay functions using the
"Properties" dialog for the CD/DVD player recorder in "My Computer".
Now I want to re-activate the autoplay for certain types (movies,
audio), and have changed the setting for these types in the CD/DVD
properties but it has had no effect on how the system handles these
file types. Inserting a CD/DVD has no effect. Nothing, Nada. Any
advice?
Thanks,
Calvin"

P.S. Flame retardant has been applied to this post.

Perhaps if you posted your question in the proper/correct newsgroup, you
might get an answer. Functional CD/DVD ROMs are not a part of Office (except
to install it and that doesn't count).

Try posting your question in the appropriate Windows newsgroup.

Perhaps I didn't state my question correctly. This is a WINDOWS XP
function. When a cd or DVD is inserted, WINDOWS displays a dialog
box asking how to handle the CD/DVD. I would like to restore this
function to WINDOWS. This IS NOT a function of the CD/DVD player.
Did you even read the question?

And did YOU read the name of this newsgroup?
**microsoft.public.office.misc**, not Windows.

Perhaps you are the one who needs to do a bit more reading?

Asking in the correct newsgroup ensures that your question is exposed to
those with the right expertise. You'll tend to find folks who know a good
deal about Office here, but fewer who know their way around feisty Windows
problems.

I'm not a Windows shell expert, but I found this though searching, and it
might help:

Autoplay Repair Wizard
Brief Description
The Microsoft AutoPlay Repair Wizard scans your computer devices to find
defective AutoPlay settings, and attempts to fix those it finds.

I hope this helps...

Thank you Herb, you are a gentleman and a scholar. Your suggestion
fixed my problem. My apologies to Ms. Paules and the group for
misunderstanding the group function. I will endeavor in the future,
to be more attentive to that function before posting.

Best regards,

Calvin

We all have made mistakes. Unfortunately when we do them online those
mistakes seem to be magnified. If this is the worst mistake you ever make,
you are indeed a blessed individual. Now, go have a good day! :)
