How do i get a tiff and quicktime decompressor?

Hi
ive got office 2003 and was just looking at my presentation i had done on my
ma office 2004. i loaded this document on my windows computer with office
2003and got an error on nearly alll my pictures said that i needed a
quicktime compressor and a tiff (compressed)or sumin decompressor

The best thing you can do is go back to your Mac and reinsert the
pictures by boing to the Insert menu, choosing Picture, and choosing From
File. The likely explanation is that you copied and pasted the pictures
into your PowerPoint presentation. Instead, you will have to save them
(if this is on the Web, hold down the mouse button while pointing to the
picture and choose Save Picture As or Download Image or something
similar) to save the picture to your disk and then insert as I specified.

Typical MS Windows answer. Why can't you just have an answer on the Windoz
side of the problem? Why can't the answer be something like, oh, here is how
to add the missing components. Why, because it is a MS problem. My PC
already has QuickTime and a Tiff decompressor installed, the dumb PC/software
just can't see them!!! Hey MS, please get your software to work right. What
a pain it is to use this platyform! I'm going back to my Mac.

So is there no solution to this? Another company sent me the file. I don't
have the original picture. I've been told the file opens fine on other PCs
in the office. I have installed Quicktime (much to the disdain of our IT
department), and still no go. Any thoughts on what I need to do? I have
checked office website and no mention of this problem. All online messaging
services say the same thing... Save the file as another format...

those, select each image, cut it, and then Edit/Paste Special and choose
PNG.

Generally, though, when I've seen this issue in a file, it has the same
issue on all PCs I try it on.

the origional image or any PC on which it opens properly. I've seen other
suggestions that its a problem in an old version of Office XP but I've got
2003 with all the updates, and quicktime is installed. (btw, it opens exactly
the same way in quicktime viewer)

The problem happens when the file is first created. IIRC, there was an
option to use QT compression on images when saving the PPT file on the
Mac -- turning that off (or declining it when prompted?) prevents the
problem. I don't recall this actually being a PPT 2002 or Office XP issue,
and I know that I've seen this problem in versions of PPT earlier than XP.

I don't know of any fix other than getting your hands on the original
images. Maybe opening the file on a Mac and resaving it or exporting the
pictures?
