How do I get "Add" in Spell check to go from "grey" to "active"

When I right-click on a spelling error I used to see "add" in the list of
options; it is now "Greyed-out". How do I change it back to active mode?

I recall having this problem once myself. I believe the problem was
that Word had "forgotten" where the custom dictionary was. The
solution in my case was to go to Preferences:Spelling and Grammar, and
click the "Dictionaries" button. This will allow you to find your
custom dictionary.
