How do I get all hyperlink fields to use the base hyperlink inst..

I have set the base hyperlink in >files>database properties.
I then created a linked database with drawing information, numbers, etc.
I set the base hyperlink in this database as well and linked it to the other
database.
I then created a hyperlink field for drawing numbers.
The hyperlink field refuses to use or recongnize the base hyperlink and
instead uses the default: "http:\\".
How can I get the fields to use the base hyperlink instead of the "http:\\"
link?
