How do I get animated clipart to work in powerpoint?

I saw some cool animated clipart that can be downloaded from the clipart side
of the microsoft office website.

When I put it into powerpoint, it seems to lose it's animation properties.

Am I doing something wrong?

Have you tried viewing your PowerPoint as a show? The animations only work
then.

Probably it's an animated GIF. As the other poster explained, those will only
animate while in slide show view.

But also, PPT 97 doesn't support animated GIFs, so if you're using that
version, it won't animate at all.
