How do I get back to 2007 Color Scheme

G

georgetok

My word menu bar color scheme has changed by itself & now looks like as
shown in attachment.

I tried to change it using office button & going to word option & to
color scheme. I tried all 3 color schemes but it still doesn't change
it.

I uninstalled the entire office program & reinstalled it but that still
doesn't work.
How can I get back to one of the 3 Color schemes that office 2007 Word
& Excell offers ?

Please help with the color scheme.

Thank You
George

You're actually posting to Usenet to the public Microsoft newsgroups. The
forum you are using is slurping the feeds and making it appear as though you
are in a private forum (I'm sure the appearance that experts choose to hang
out in their forum isn't bad for their image either. <g>). Attachments may
be allowed in the forum but due to security issues your attachments were
removed.

All you really need to do is breifly describe what you are seeing - we're
used to that around here. :)

It looks to me like 256 colors VGA mode.

Hey George i was wondering if you ever got this thing fixed with the
word 2007 colors being wrong

Hi Andrew,

There are two places you may want to check if you're seeing the Office button as an outlined rather than colored logo in Office
2007.

1. Right click on the Windows desktop and look at the properties to see if your display settings are set to 256 (VGA) colors. If
so, you'll get the 'washout' colors in the Office 2007 menus.

2. You can also check the Accessibility settings in the Windows Control Panel to see if the Display 'high contrast' choice has been
turned on, which will give a similar effect.

Hi Andrew & Bob,

Thank you for caring. Very kind of you to check back.

No I never did get that issue resolved.

I also tried Bob's suggestion & both things he suggested are set ok.

Funny thing is that it was working alright for a while & I haven't made
any changes in any settings.

Besides all other applications are working in true colors & color
problem anywhere else in anything on my computer.

So whatever it is related has something to do with office 2007
applications only.

I do have a dual monitor card. Does that matter ?

Any more suggestions ?

Please help.

George

Just ran into a very strange thing.

When I boot into safe mode & run office, it works fine with no color
problem.

Any ideas ?

Thanks

I'm having the exact same problem and I also have a dual monitor setup using
a nvidia brand card. I have the latest nvidia provided driver installed as
well which I am going to try removing to see if it has any effect and I will
post back with the results. Hopefully it's related to the display driver and
nvidia will provide a new version that correct this problem.

Cross your fingers!

The post you made on 1/11/07 shows an image of the exact problem I'm having.
My computer displays everything else in 32bit color but Office 2007 runs in a
low color mode for some reason.

I've tried uninstalling the latest nvidia driver and it corrected the
problem but Microsoft doesn't provide a driver compatiable with the nvidia
6600GT card so it was running with the default Windows XP VGA driver. The
only other option I had was to find an earlier dated driver from nvidia or a
driver from the card manufacturer that might resolve the problem.

I had plans to upgrade to Windows Vista Enterprise on this computer anyway
so to not waste any more of my time on this problem I've gone ahead with that
and I do not experience this same issue in Vista with the Microsoft provided
driver. I've also went ahead and installed the latest nvidia driver for
Windows Vista and everything is still fine with the graphics in all Office
2007 apps. Being that nvidia provides their driver in a universal format for
many card models I'm not sure if this issue is only with the 6600GT on
Windows XP using their latest driver version.

I hope this answers the question for "Patrick Schmid [MVP]"

You could always try a beta driver from nVidia...

Hi Jesse,

Check to see if your Windows or Nvidia settings have changed to 256 (8 bit) color quality mode, or if the High Contrast settings are
turned on in the Accessibility applet of the Windows control panel.

You may also want to see if shutting down the nView Desktop Manager software (nVidia) and using just the driver makes a difference.
Are you using the nVidia Control panel 'optimization wizard' or manually adjusting things?

==========
<<I've found this same problem, after updating my Nvidia driver. When you start any Office 2007 application, the toolbars and
interface are all in a low (like 4-bit) color mode for some reason. I rolled back the Nvidia driver, but the problem still remains.
I'm now running Office repair to see if that does the trick.

I've included a snippet to show what is happening.

First BIG THANK YOU to all who replied.

When I saw everyone having problem had dual monitor or video card that
might be causing the problem I decided to turn the second monitor off
an it solved the problem.

But I have ATI Radeon card not nvidia so it seems both cards have the
problems.

Any suggestions with ATI Radeon card ?

I got it with my Dell computer.

Thanks
