How do I get Document Imaging to stop opening when I scan slides?

I use Vuescan software and a Minolta Dimage scanner to scan photographic
slides. I recently upgraded my Office software and now, after a scan
finishes and creates a TIFF file, Document Imaging starts, massages the
scanned information, and stores the file in a folder different from the one I
have specified. How do I regain control over where my files go and get
Document Imaging to quit starting every time I scan a slide?
