How do I get Excel to drop the date from a time format?

I am trying to design a time sheet for the organisation. If I enter the time
as 9:00 it stays as 9am... if I just enter 900, it goes to 18/06/1902
12:00:00 AM - is there anyway to get it to see 900 as 9:00

lozzielou,
You have to format the cells the way that you want excel to handle the
information that you enter.
So select a cell, Format, Cells, Category: "Time" and Type: "13:30"
You will still have to enter 9:00 am as "9:00" .

You will come unstuck using that format for time, excel wouldn't know i
you meant 900 hours, 900 minutes, 900 seconds, 9 hours......etc
remember time is in units of 60, the way you are proposing to use th
values they will be seen by excel as units of 10's and 100'
