how do i get exponents/subtext???

A quick keyboard method is CTRL+SHIFT+= for superscript and CTRL+= for
subscript.

If you repeat either keystroke set it will toggle between normal and the
scripted font size.

= means the +/= key

I put the icons on the Formatting toolbar. Right-click any toolbar area and
select "Customize". Click the "Commands" TAB and select the "Format"
Category. Scroll down on the right until you find the Subscript and
Superscript icons. Click one and drag it next to the "Underline" icon and
let go. Repeat or the next one. Now they are handy all the time.
