How do I get message to appear the same once it gets to recipient?

Whenever I send a message out it looks great, but when I recieve it (I test
before I send to clients) the line breaks are off, there is no font change
(italics, bold) and it is difficult to read. Does anyone know how to get the
message to appear the same as when you send it off? Any advice would be
great. Thanks
