How do I get my MS Publisher document on the web? Can I use FrontPage?

As you might guess from the question, I'm rather new to this. I need help
getting started. If someone can suggest where I can go for information it
would be appreciated.

This is what I'm trying to do:

I publish a monthly newsletter. I create it in Publisher XP. I snailmail
out copies to those who are not computer literate and also convert the
document to a PDF and email it to others.

However, the email has become a problem - the document is too large. Rather
than email, I'd like to convert the document to web pages and send the URL
to people rather than email the entire document.

I currently have a web site available to me thru my ISP. It supports FTP as
well as FrontPage extensions. I have used FrontPage 2003 to experiment with
publishing to the site.

I need to be able to:

1. create a new newsletter every month.
2. be able to print snailmail copies
3. be able to update my web site with the new data every month
4. ideally, i'd also like to have the PDF file be a link on the site so that
someone can download it if they wish to
5. Even more ideally, I would like this newsletter to be a series of pages
which can be gotten to via a link from my home page. I would like to be able
to create my homepage using FrontPage if possible. This of course would
mean that my site would be a combination of Publisher created files as well
as frontpage created files.

If item 5 is NOT a smart thing to try to do, I'd love some alternative
suggestions.

So....where should I start?

I've attempted to have publisher convert to a web page and it seems to do
that fairly well.
However, I don't know how to put this into front page (or even if I should
attempt to do so).

Many thanks in advance!

I create a newsletter four times a year. We snail mail out to everyone on
the mailing list, plus there are people who have chosen to get the
newsletter via the Internet. I have to keep the newsletter on a secured page
because it often contains personal contact information. I use .pdfs for the
online version. Some people like to print out all of the pages or just
certain sections. Not everyone has the time to read everything online at one
time. My newsletter can get up to 24 or 25 pages (I've had it grow to 6+MB
with Pub 2000.)

All of this means I use two programs. Well, three including Acrobat. I use
Publisher to create my newsletter and FrontPage to maintain my website. The
page that contains the link to the newsletter .pdf is the one you need the
user name and password to view. This allows me to maintain some control on
who sees our information. I don't deny anyone access. And this way I can
send an email out to the 105+ online viewers that the newest version has
been posted to the web.

If I can be of any assistance, please let me know.

Publisher can generate web pages from the publication. If you are using
Publisher 2002 be sure to install Service Packs 1 and 2. I'd suggest
visiting the Office Update site and getting the new SP3 file that includes
all of 1-3.
My site's 2002 section explains the SP's 1 and 2 if you need that.
Visit www.davidbartosik.com/ppt.htm and review the upload tutorial on how to
generate and upload the Publisher made web site.
In a nutshell you would save a copy of the newsletter with a new name (i.e.
mynewsletter_web.pub) and that copy you convert to a web publication (File,
Convert...) That web publication is then saved as a web site entity (File,
Export as...).
You then publish that entity.
You would keep it a separate but connected entity from your FrontPage site.
meaning you would have a link off a FrontPage made page that links to the
Publisher made page and/or vice versa.
And your print publication version of the newsletter you can convert to pdf
and upload that as well and link as desired.

So number 5 is no big deal, any html file can link to any other html file
(or any file type for that matter). But you would want to keep the entities
separate - the FrontPage web and the publisher file.

Thank you very much for your advice.
I am using Publisher 2003 on Win XP Home. I am also using FrontPage 2003
Does that change any of your answers?
I've had a bit of trouble finding info on FrontPage 2003 as most of what I
find seems to be for 2002 and prior.
I have read your page on Pub 2003. Thanks.

I do have a related question. I have converted my existing newsletter to
web format. One thing it asked me was whether I wanted a navigation bar. I
do. So I said yes.
It stuck the nav bar right on top of my text. Since my text/graphics fills
up the entire "page size", there's nowhere to put the nav bar unless I
increase the page size (which I'm not sure how to do).
So....where should I put the bar?

Thanks again....

yeap, it just plops it on there. it's up to you to figure out where to put
it.
that's a down-side to converting a print pub to a web pub rather than
starting with a web pub.
if you want to increase the page size refer to
