How do I get my printer to list tabloid size paper ?

How do I get my printer (an Epson LQ-1050) to list tabloid size paper (11" x
17") as a page size option? I'm using Windows XP. I can't choose tabloid in
either Word or Corel Draw or Paint. I assume there is something I need to do
in the Printers and Faxes folder? Thanks for any help you can give me.

I don't think I wll find an answer to how to set up a printer in Windows XP
in a 1988 printers manual. I have had this printer for over 15 years and it
has worked fine in Windows 3.1, Windows 95 and Windows 98. It has also worked
fine Windows XP, but I think there was something I had to do in the printers
and faxes folder to get Windows to know that it can use tabloid paper and I
forget what it was. I don't think I have needed to use that size paper since
I had to reinstall the operating system many months ago.

Thanks for your response, but I don't think I will find my answer there.

I would suggest reading the user's manual.

I wondered about how old the printer was when I saw that it was a dot matrix
printer. Sometimes we have to stop using equipment because it's no longer
works with the software even tho it still works mechanically.

It has worked with Windows XP I just need to know how to set it up so that XP
knows it can use more sizes of paper.

That's my point. You need drivers from Epson for it to fully comply.

Look in the Printer folder, file, Print Server properties. You may need to
define the paper size there.

No, it was working before with out drivers from Epson. I just needed to
remember how to do it. It finally came back to me. The procedure is: click
start, printers and faxes, clink on my printer, clink on file, server
properites, on the forms tab click on 11x17, click on Create an a new form,
type in a form name, click on save form and click close. Now it is available
in my printer.

Sorry I had to involve you in my memory recall process but maybe it will
help if someone else runs into this problem.

Thanks for your efforts.

Glad you got it working. I'm surprised that you can still find ribbons for
that printer. Unfortunately Epson won't provide drivers so that all the
features of the printer can be used. My LQ2550 has been in the attic for
about 8 years now. Don't have a need for carbon copies anymore but it is a
nice fast 24 pin printer.

Yes, that question is routinely answered in the Windows XP group. The
Office apps don't have any control over what hardware properties are
available.
