How do I get my subsite onto the search engines effectively?

Changed host servers this month. How do I get my subsite effectively on
search engines. My main site seems to be recognized, but the engines do not
find the subsite unless I type in the exact name, even with several keywords
used.
Also, both domains are showing up on search engines with the old server (I
can tell because of the company's extension.) Of course those pages are not
accessible. Can they be removed?

Submit it to the search engines so they can index it. From you submit a
new site till it gets indexed can take quite some time so be patient.
Old pages will eventually be removed when the search engines see that
they are no longer accessible.
