I have a new computer with Windows 7 pre-installed. Can't get Office 2003
Small Business but specifically Outlook 2003, to work. When I try to open I
get the following error message :

Unable to open your default e-mail folder. Outlook could not start because a
data file to send and receive mail could not be found. To add a data file,
such as a personal folder file, douible click the mail icon in windows
control panel.

I've tried to do taht withour any success at all so any suggestions very
welcome!!!

Many thanks

Was there a preinstalled Trial of Office, that you failed to uninstall
first?
What happens when you use the Mail applet to configure your mail account &
add a data file?

Hello DL[_3_],

It should work, you just need to search for your "pst" file. Search fo
"*.pst" without the quotes. Then install it in control panel unde
"mail".

Have you checked compatibility?
Just an FYI for you.

It is always best to check with the software manufacturer FIRST. The
will tell you if they have tested the product and the version, as wel
as whether or not it will work with Windows 7.
Check out the Windows 7 Compatibility site: (There you will find ou
about hardware and software compatibility.)
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/en-us/default.aspx
There is a pulldown from which you can choose "hardware" an
"software".

There are also some great articles, instructional videos and such t
help with your Windows 7 at our Springboard site:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/default.aspx

In any event a lot of the times, Vista drivers will work in lieu o
Windows 7 drivers, however, it's not 100%!

As stated previously, it's best to have the Windows 7 certified driver
installed.

Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 Support Forum located her
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/w7itpro/ . I
is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and suppor
teams. You may want to check the threads available there for additiona
assitance and support.

Thanks again,
John M.
