How do I get Outlook 2007 to retain my password?

Upgraded to Windows Vista while Office XP was installed, ran into problem
with Outlook not retaining my email passwords for my POP3 accounts.

***I upgraded specifically to Office 2007 to resolve and the problem still
exists!***

Found KB article that acknowledges the issue and attributes it to the
Protected Storage System Provider subkey in the Windows Registry but the KB
article here does not address how to correct in Vista:
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=290684

I've tried to see if the XP process would work, and it doesn't - get errors
when trying to delete the subkey. Can ANYONE help me with this annoying
problem?

An upgrade rarely resolves a problem, unless it specifically includes a bug
fix.
OL2002 is not fully compatibal with Vista
Try creating a new profile, with new data file, & add your accounts & test

Are you able/have you tested the Account settings in Windows Mail?
What ISP are you connecting to?

The problem is even worse in Windows Mail... it doesn't save either my user
name or my password.

I'm able to get my email via Outlook 2007 - the problem is Outlook does not
save the password, even with "retain password" selected. I have to type my
password in for each of my email accounts EVERY time I open Outlook. The
problem has been identified in KB article 290684, but the article fails to
give a Vista solution. It stops at XP. I tried the XP solution, but it Vista
won't allow editing of the registry key identified in the article. At this
point, I'm just looking for a fix from Microsoft, or a work around from an
Outlook community member.

I check mail on 3 accounts - Bellsouth DSL, Yahoo (with POP3 access), and
Nova Southeastern University. All 3 support POP email and all three accounts
are set up correctly in Outlook. The problem is not with my ISP - it's with
Outlook.
