How do I get Outlook 2007 to send and receive messages on open?

Earlier answers for Outlook 2003 said "tools, options, mail set up,
send/receive button. add a check to the option
to check every xx min. Do not set it below 5 and it's better to set it at 8
or 10."

This did not work for Outlook 2007. Suggestions?

Suggest you post some actual information. "This did not work" tell us
nothing. What you actually did, what mail account types you are using, and
what happened would be the minimum you should post. Here are some guidelines

I've noticed this as well in my own Outlook 2007 installation. I have a
send/receive interval set, but when i start Outlook, it appears that it
doesn't perform the initial send/receive or, if it does, nothing arrives.
Only when the second send/receive at the end of the interval occurs do
waiting messages arrive. I haven't had a lot of time to actually verify
this, but a brief observation seems to confirm what you see. This is on a
Windows XP box. I haven't paid much attention to my Vista installation yet.

Russ (and all others),

I was just impatient. It works aoutmatically when I log in. Must not have
been any new messages when I tried it. Sorry.
