How do I get Outlook to interact with msn hotmail?

I have Outlook and use MSN Hotmail. I am unable to send email from Outlook,
everything remains in my sent items folder.

You have paid for MSN Hotmail service for this feature? I don't believe it
works with free Hotmail.
