How do I get rid of a branded template?

Cher

Our company had used other colors and copywrited some powerpoint
presentations. We have chnged our look and i am trying to put the design on
the old presentations. I have gone to design and apply to all but it won't
allow me to do it. I also went in normal view to omit the background and it
won't let me do that. The only thing left is to use the new template and
copy and paste the info. into the new template. With over 25 presentations
and some have 50 slides that is going to be a nightmare. Any suggestionsw.

Create a new Powerpoint template (.pot) file that has the new
branded colors/look, and save it with a different name than the
old branded template. Apply the new template (slide design) to
each existing presentation:

PowerPoint 2002/2003: Open an existing presentation and click on
Format | Slide Design. Browse to the new template and apply to
all slides.

PowerPoint 2000: Open an existing presentation and click on
Format | Apply Design Template. Browse to the new template and
apply to all slides.

PowerPoint 97: Open an existing presentation and choose Format |
Apply Design. Browse to the new template and apply to all slides.

With the old design template open go to View on the menu bar Click on Master
and when the sub menu appears click on Slide Master this allows you to make
changes to the background, fonts, bullets. When done close the slide master
toolbar and your new template is created. If you want to save this template
under a new name click on File-Save As in the file type box at the bottom
click the down arrow and find either powerpoint templates or just templates.
In file name box name your new template and it will always be available to
you from the design template task pane. Help you any?

How did you create the new template? It sounds as if you put your "new look"
elements on a slide, when what you need to do is place the elements on the
slide master.

http://www.soniacoleman.com/Tutorials/PowerPoint/create_template/index.html
and http://www.indezine.com/products/powerpoint/ppcreatemp.html both have
good instructions on how to create templates.

If that's not is, then please clarify this:
the old presentations. I have gone to design and apply to all but it
won't
allow me to do it.

What exactly happens when you go to Format|Slide Design? Remember -- I can't
see what you're doing there, so you have to be my eyes.

Also, what version of PPT are you using?

Oh, I'd rather resolve the issue with applying the design template, but you
can also use Insert|Slides|From File, which might be faster than copy/paste.

I am wondering if they didn't put the original presentation on a slide and
that is why I can't get rid of the old template because there isn't one.
When I do format slide design is does absolutely nothing. Therefore, I guess
the only thing I can do is just what I thought. Copy and paste.

That sounds like a distinct possiblity, too.

I guess, though, you didn't see the thing about Insert|Slides From File?
That should at least be faster than copy/paste. Don't select "keep source
formatting" in this dialog (see the note in
http://www.echosvoice.com/multipletemplates.htm#PPT2002 ) when you insert
them. If the slides don't change then, then it does indeed sound as if the
original presentation elements are on the individual slides and not on the
actual template/master.

I have exactly the same problem and it's driving me nuts! I tried insert
slides from other files and I get the same problem!
