How do I get rid of border on pasted picture?

I have inserted some pictures in Word 2003 and selected the "in line with
text" layout. With this setting, a border appears around the picture even
though no border appears on the original art. I'd like to get rid of the
borders, but the "Line" settings on "Format Picture" are disabled. If I
change to a wrapped layout like "square," the Line settings are now enabled,
but the border disappears on its own accord. As soon as I return to "in line
with text," the borders reappear.

My temporary workaround is to cut the picture from Word 2003 and paste it
into Excel or Powerpoint. There I can remove the picture's border, copy it,
and paste it back into Word. There has to be a better way!

If you're certain that the border is visible even if the image is _not_
selected, one other possibility is Format>Borders & Shading - None. If that
isn't it, try to supply more detail about the type & origin of the images, as
well as the stps taken to insert them.
