How do I get rid of text changing to "R**;s" in email msgs I send?

I use Office 2007 - recipient uses Office 2003 - he received an "R12" where I
had a dash; an "R17;s" where I had an apostrophe; and a "R20" where I had a
colon.

Thank you for the suggestion, however the doc I sent needed to be viewed in
html as it is a weekly newsletter type doc. I produced it in Publisher 07
and sent it as an "email message".

Could you have used a font that the recipient does not have? Do you use
embedded fonts? Any of you other recipients having this problem or just this
one? I don't believe MS messed with Publisher's 2007 file format like they
did with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Possible it could be the font, however it seems strange that it would only
happen on punctuation marks. None of the other recipients mentioned the
problem. I'll test your theory by changing the font on the doc and
resending. Thank you.

When you convert a publication into HTML, the "smart quotes" are not converted.
In Publisher, tools, AutoCorrect Options, AutoFormat as You Type, clear
"Straight quotes" with "smart quotes"
