How do I get rid of the " read only" on a file I want to make chan

I have address labels in an excel file and am trying to make corrections. I
get an error message, read only file. How do I do away with the "READ ONLY"
and how did this come about. I also want to save it to a CD-RW disk. HELP

Read-only can come from a few different sources.

1. If the file was burned to CD it will be read-only. Change its attributes in
Windows Explorer after you have copied it back to Hard Drive.

2. Could have been saved that way under File>Save AsTools>General Options "read
only recommended".

3. Excel crashed while that file was open. This would leave a *.tmp file in
tour Temp folder. Re-boot first, then clean out you Temp folder.

A warning here...........do not save to or open files directly from removable
media. Can lead to corrupted files.

Save first to Hard Drive then copy to CD
