How do I get started?

I have some idea from an entire too high level of what project server
can do and think it would be a great application for an enterprise app
I am developing. Unfortunately, I have never used Project and have
the strong feeling that successfully developing an app in Project
Server without knowing Project.

My needs are not that complex, I mainly need it for its scheduling
functionality so resource cost types concerns are not high for me.

I'd like to buy some books on this but given the number out there
would like some recommendations as to which ones are better suited for
a more broad installation than one explaining every detail in depth.

Any help would be appreciated.

BTW...I've already visited projectserverexperts.com and see that it
will be a very useful site once I know a little about Project. It
doesn't appear to have to much for the complete and total newbie.

TIA

Matthew --

I appreciate your thoughtfulness in wanting to get started with Project
Server the right way. In this regard, check out the sources of
documentation, books, and training at the following FAQ:

http://www.projectserverexperts.com/Shared Documents/PS2003Documentation.htm

Hope this helps.

Thanks. I used the installation guide there to get my server up and
working. The Single Server Installation process worked perfectly.
I'll check out the other docs as well.

I'd check out one or two of the books just about scheduling etc with the
standard/professional version before moving to Project Server.

I found the "MS Project Management with MS Project 2003" to be a good intro
book (Complete Idiots Guide Series).

I'm sure there are other good ones around - I've ordered a couple more as I
need more perspectives on resource levelling. Check out the Amazon reviews.

HTH.
