I'm thinking something else is adding the clocks. Are they identical? Is
there a clock icon in the subject field?

Not identical- 1 is Start, and the other is End, for meetings and
appointments across several days..........Single Days are not
affected......no Clocks in Subject Field......I agree something else is at
work, but what?

Are these time appointments that last for more than 24 hours? If so, clocks
are shows to indicate they are not all day events, as they use the all day
banner.
