How do I get the entire Subject pane in Journal to show or toggle

Just upgraded to Outlook 2003 and it is *worse* than 2002 in this regard.

What Subject "pane" are you talking about? There is no pane just for
Subject. Maybe you meant the cell that shows the subject title under
the Subject *column* (in a grid or table view). So why can't you hover
the mouse over the edge of the column header and drag it to whatever
size that you want? If the Subject is wider than the width of the
column, doesn't hovering the mouse over the cell show a popup with the
full string?
