How do I get the screensaver not to have the screen go blank?

I have my screensaver set to activate after 5 minutes using "My Pictures";
does this cause the screen to go blank after my screensaver has been running
for only 5-10 minutes? I'll be sitting at my desk when the screensaver
activiates but will have to go make some copies. When I return the screen is
blank - no nothing. I'll wait a minute or so to make sure, then wiggle my
mouse and the desktop appears. Is there a setting I can get to to correct
this problem (I like my screensaver!) or do I need to get in touch with the
IT department?
