How do I get Word to recognise British spellings?

I prefer to use what most dictionaries define as British variants of
spellings. For example, I would write "realise" rather than "realize".
However, even though this is acceptable (and in my country, the correct
spelling of the word) every time I spellcheck on Word, it tells me they're
wrong. Then I have to keep adding these words to the dictionary, and it's a
pain.
Is there any dictionary update I can get that comes with British English
built into it?

Hi,

In the define language tab, set languange as British English. However, your
version may need to be the multilanguage pack, I am not sure about this. Mine
is the Spanish version, and I can select either British or American English.

You may need to the same that I did sometime ago and create an "exclusion"
dictionary.
http://word.mvps.org/faqs/general/excludewordfromdic.htm
has instruction to create the .exc file.
Works very well for me, doing exactly what you want, because even if you
have the file's language as UK, it will still accept "realize" but with the
exculsion file, "realize" will now be indicated as incoreect spelling, along
with any other words entered into the .exc file.
Very handy.
Best of Luck, hopes this helps

Hi Spanish Z

Thanks a lot. I found the Set Language button in the Review tab... and even
better than British English, I found English (India), which I set to default.
I'm using Word 2007 btw.

Thanks again. This is going to save me a lot of hassle.
