How do I get Word2004 to start up without a blank document?

Often I just want to open a document that I've already created or
downloaded. It'd save me an extra step each time if I could get Word
2004 to just start up and not open a blank document, which I then have
to close.

Hi Gary:

Just go ahead and open the document you want. Word will automatically
dismiss the blank document (unless you have changed it).

I assume you have Click n Type turned OFF? Otherwise any click on the blank
document will fill it with tabs and blank lines and count as a "change".

Cheers

I'd never heard of it until just now. It was on, so I turned it off to
see what difference it'll make. I don't insert anything into my
documents. Occasionally I'll create a table or copy-and-paste something
from a TextEdit document, that's all.
