How do i hide part of a date range

I am using Microsoft project 2000. I have a project that runs over a large
timescale and I want to only see part of that timescale in my Tracking Gantt.
The problem lies in that the overall task for the project runs the full
timescale and therefore it creates lots of pages when I use a detail level on
the tracking calendar part. i want to hide part of the date range. Using a
filter doesn't work as this top task always has something under it. I can
also zoom out on the timescale but this then loses the detail that I need to
see.

AnthonyM,
Unfortunately there is no way to "hide" selected parts of the timescale
in Project. You could set the "count" value for the tiers in the
timescale to skip intervals but that will apply to the whole timescale.

If a filter is acceptable, why not turn off the option to show the top
task (which I assume is the Project Summary Task) under
Tools/Options/View tab. Or if the top task is not the Project Summary
task, add criteria to your filter to eliminate any lines you do not want
included.
