How do I implement file import in outlook 2007

N

notgrumpy

I am using Vista and Office 2007 on my laptop. I want to import my contacts
from my desktop which has Office 2003 and XP Professional.
WHen I select "Import and Export" all I get is a widow saying "not
implemented".
Really informative! And I can't find an answer on the net.
Please help me!!!

Fortunately the less then informative message has probably saved you from
doing something that you shouldn't have done were you able.

#1 - Re: "Not implemented"

Not something I've seen before as a message but am going to assume that it
means that the Outlook import/export functions were not installed when
Office 2007 was put on your system. Re-run your setup for Office - select
add/remove - you'll find import/export options under Outlook. You'll need
the install CD for Office '2007

#2 - The absolute <last> thing you should be doing to get your info from
O'2003 is import/export. Just copy the PST files from your desktop to your
laptop and open the PST files in O'2007 (in Outlook - from menu -->
File --> Open Data File). Once the old PST files are open - copy the info
you want to your new folders and remove the old files (or maintain both -
whichever suits your purposes) - just <don't> use import/export functions
for this scenario.

Of, he can simply designate the original PST as the delivery location instead
of doing all the copying.

Brian, you're absolutely right. The reason I didn't think to add that was
that for some reason I had it in my mind that the O'2007 config was already
in use and new data in O'2007 already existed (which may or may not have
been a correct assumption). Either case, your suggestion certainly should
have been included as a possible option in the original answer for it to be
complete.
