How do I import .dat files from Outlook backup?

I have back-up files from Outlook 2000. They are not .pst files but are .dat
format and the import wizard for Outlook 2003 won't open them because they
aren't .pst format. The file is 2 GB so I am certain this is my Outlook back
up. How do I convert the .dat files to .pst format or atleast get Outlook to
recognize them?

No version of Outlook has ever created .dat files as data files. Maybe you have a backup file created with some backup software and you need to run that software to extract files from the backup?

I am also facing the same issue, I have backup folder from outlook long back not sure about the version. Not able to restore files using outlook 2010.

I have parent folder with pop.secureserver.net, and have few files with .msf and couple of files with .dat extension.
