I want to prurchase/use Microsoft Office Project 2007. I currently use
Microsoft Office Outlook Outlook 2003 as my "project manage". I want to be
able to import tasks and appointments from Outlook 2003 into Project 2007,
and vice versa. (1) can that be done? (2) If so, how? (3) Is there an
on-line tutorial or instruction manual or help desk or some other source that
I can use to answer my own enquiry.

I am a small business owner without any software tech support.

Hello Myles,

You can import tasks from the Outlook task list fairly easily by
using the command Tools > Import Outlook Tasks. You'll have to find
another way around importing appointments, perhaps through exporting
the appointment data to excel and then importing to Project. There
is no automatic method.

As far as taking Project data to Outlook, there is an "Add Reminder"
feature in Project, but I believe it requires Outlook 2007 to
function properly.

I'd encourage you to keep all data (where reasonable) in one product
or the other. If you aren't finding Outlook suiting your needs for
project management, go to Project. However, don't try to use
Project as a personal organizer to keep track of all contacts with
each person involved in the project.

Project has a fairly steep learning curve, so the investment in a
good two+ day hands-on class will pay off. In the meantime, fellow
MVP, Mike Glen has made available a wonderful series of tutorials on
using MS Project. It's a great place to start.

You can find Mike's tutorials at:

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
