how do I import illustrator files into excell and keep quality?

I am trying to import illustrator files into an excell workbook. I used to do
this by converting the graphics file to a .wmf and then importing it into
excell. If I do this with .ai files it crashes my excell workbook. Does
anyone know how to do this with Illustrator files?
