How do I import my email from entourage 2004 to entourage 2008

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Processor: Intel I just bought a new version of microsoft but haven't downloaded it yet for fear of losing all my emails on entourage. I assume after downloading the new entourage, my emails will not just miraculously import into the new version. So, please can someone tell me how to save the emails and import them? Can't lose any emails or contacts in this process. And once imported, it will be as though nothing is different - my emails will appear as they would in the old version.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Before you install, make sure you have enough RAM and free space. I've seen
reports from users that are upgrading from Tiger that do not meet minimum
requirements and find it's too slow to use and/or install.

When you install Office 2008, and launch Entourage, it will ask you if you
want to import from a previous version. Select your old Identity to import.
Entourage will take it through an upgrade process and create a new Entourage
2008 Identity.

Thank you. Very helpful. Just so I'm clear: I will import information from an entourage archive (which I just created on my desktop as a back up). And all my emails, calendar, address book will all be imported into the new version of entourage.
I really appreciate your speedy response.

No, in the Microsoft User Data folder you should see the Office 2004
Identities folder and the new Office 2008 Identities folder. You want to
import from the Office 2004 Identities folder. This will get your accounts,
rules, etc.

If you import from an Entourage archive (.rge) file it gets items, but not
all items will have categories. This will not get accounts or rules.

SUCCESS!! Thank you. Way easier than I thought.
When I installed the new software I did not get rid of the old software. How do I uninstall the older version of Microsoft Office. Will dragging to trash work?
Thank you again. I really appreciate your responses.

Great!

Dragging to the trash does not get everything. Use "Remove Office".
Check to see if the Office 2004 fonts in your User's Library/Fonts
folder are deleted. Office 2008 installs fonts in the root
Library/Fonts/Microsoft folder. Even though you are still on Tiger, I
suggest that you run Font Book to validate your fonts. See directions here:

Microsoft fonts to delete after installing Snow Leopard (includes help
deleting font caches)
