How do I import .pst files from a storage device

Alain

I bought a new computer last night, and before I disconnected my old one, I
"backed up" my personal folder (.pst) onto a CD-R. I used the Import/Export
function after reading the help menu. Now I've loaded the CD-R on my new
computer and I'm trying to open or access the .pst file and it continues to
give me an "access denied" error. I try to change its "read-only" property,
and again I get the same access denied message.

Why am I having this problem if the file never prompted me for a password,
and how can I address it?

Thank you.

Never export to or import from a PST. You lose data that way.

if you are using Internet-only mode (i.e. no Exchange), just copy the .pst
back to your hard disk (usually C:\Documents and Settings\YOURNAM\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\outlook.pst) and unset the
read-only flag on the .pst file.

Never a good idea to overwrite an existing .pst file - just copy the file to
a location of the user's choice - My Documents works well since this is the
one folder that usually gets backed up.
