how do I increase disk space in Outlook2002 in Vista

We've a new PC using Vista and loaded Outlook 2002, as it's not sold
seperately for 2007. However, we keep getting warned our disk usage is
critical. How do I increase allocated disc space on the PC?

Outlook has nothing to do with disk space on the PC. You may want to run a
defrag on the PC but your Outlook PST will only be approximately 2 GB max so
that isn't likely the problem. If there is an Outlook-related error message,
please post it exactly.

Are you connecting to an Exchange server for email?

I'm not sure what you mean by an exchange server. My server is Virgin and I
download from my email inbox on their site, when this message comes up I
can't download but if I clear some emails, I can. Which makes me think the
problem is on my PC, either a setting in Outlook, which I can't find or in
the PC settings. I never had the problem with the last PC running ME &
Outlook 2000. Apart from liking Outlook I need it for syncing with my PDA.

I have a very similar question.
I have personal Outlook, no server, and wanted to know how I compress the
database from time to time?

My Reply, Forward, New, and New Contacts take at least 15+ seconds to load.

I have never archived because I was concerned about how I could read
archived messages if I wanted to scan through them. I frequently go back on
some subjects.

I was doing a search so I could tell you how large my Outlook.pst file was
and so far I have come up with one (in docs and settings\(me)) that is dated
10/23/2004, and is 142.5MB, and I had just used Outlook before writing this
reply so I don't know why the 2004 (my computer clock is ok).

The search is still running so If there is a major difference in size, I'll
let you know.

You may want to check with your ISP to see if they have a cap on your
mailbox. If you're not downloading mail from the server, all your emails are
still residing there. If you've reached your limit, you may have to clean it
up.

Alternatively, it's possible your PST is large enough to cause an issue but
it does not email you about the size.

Outlook PST files (this is the Outlook data file that holds all your email,
contacts, calendar entries, etc.) from versions Outlook 2002 and older, have
a maximum size limit of 2 GB. That being said, the PST can start having
issues around the 1.6 GB size or so. You should also check your PST size.

You can do this by unhiding hidden files and folders and also enabling your
view of known file extensions. Then do a search for *.pst. The default name
of the Outlook PST file is outlook.pst but can be renamed to whatever you
choose.

What version of Outlook do you use? 142 MB is not overly large, even for any
older version. You can safely archive, you just have to add the archive.pst
folder to your profile to be able to browse through it.

The default Outlook PST filename is outlook.pst but can of course be
renamed.
