How do I insert a checkbox object in Word 2007?

In Word 2003 I was able to insert a checkbox object which enabled users to
click in the box and a check mark appeard. How do I repeat this in Word 2007?

You will need to turn on the display of the developer tab and then in the
Controls section, select the Legacy Controls item (bottom right hand icon in
the left section of the Controls section) and then click on the check box
item that you require.
