How do I insert a drop down box in the footer

I am trying to insert a drop down box in the footer of my document. But the
toolbar will not allow me to access the drop down box button. How do I insert
a drop down box into the footer of my document?

Hi Kristen,

What version of Word are you using and what are you planning on using the drop down for? The header and footer are in a separate
layer from the main text portion of the document (i.e. you're working in one layer or the other at a given point in time), but there
may be other ways to achieve the result you want.
