How do I insert a file as a shortcut in an e-mail message?

Hi, I used to be able to select INSERT | INSERT AS SHORTCUT as a way of
reducing the size of my e-mails.
How do I do this in WORD 2003?

what email application? Where is the file saved you're inserting? Has
the recipient access to it? If not, how would he be able to see what you
inserted when all there is is a link?
