Hi Alistair,
Without more information (Word version, how you created
the objects, layout/wrapping, etc) here are some ideas
that are somewhat 'guesses' on the situation you're facing.
Is this a Word org chart or just a collection of Word auto shapes?
If it's a Word 2002 or 2003 Org chart then you can use
Insert=>Picture=>New Drawing to create a blank canvas.
If in Word 2003, set the layout of the org chart to 'inline with text'
Expand the canvas from the Drawing Canvas toolbar.
Create a textbox inside the drawing canvas to the size
you want for your org chart then copy the org chart diagram
and paste it into the text box and resize the canvas.
If you're using a collection of autoshapes and not the
diagramming tool in Word 2003. Then you can use
Tools=>Cusomize=>Commands, select the 'Drawing' category
then drag the 'Select Multiple Objects' command to your
drawing toolbar, next to the 'select objects' (white arrow
icon) and close the customize dialog.
You can use the Multiple objects tool and choose [select all]
then select cut or copy (you can also choose to use Draw=>Group
at this point before copying if you choose to).
Insert your blank canvas (Insert=>Picture=>New drawing) and
then paste the collected shapes into the Canvas.
=======
Having created an organisational diagram with lines, text boxes etc in a
word document, I now want to have them inside a drawing canvas. When I select
all the drawing objects, I find I cannot insert them in to a drawing canvas
and edit them . These are existing complicated diagrammes and not easy to
re-create from scratch, also the amount of time to re-create them would be
self defeating.
If anyone can help it would be much appreciated
