HOW DO i install an update after downloading

Microsoft asked me for an update and I chose drive C .I downloaded it .It
took about 2 &1/2 hours to finish.
There was no place to click for installing it.This happened on several
occasions in response to Microsoft requirement for updating.
How do install it/

How exactly did Microsoft "ask" you for an update? If it was via an
e-mail or something sent to you, then you probably fell for a hacker
masquerading as Microsoft. If you downloaded something, your PC is most
likely infected with a virus, worm, or other evil thing and you will
need to run your virus removal software.

If on the other hand, your application "suggested" that you update to a
newer version or you have the Windows automatic update feature
activated, then there would have been full instructions on exactly what
to do.

By the way, there is rarely a "requirement" to update. Updates are
always classed as "recommended" or "highly recommended".
